Chicago

For fall break we headed to Chicago to see Morgan & Jamie (and "Junior") for a planes, trains and automobiles trip. We arrived Saturday evening while Morgan & Jamie were at stake conference (Morgan was speaking) so we took a cab to their condo in downtown Chicago. We left summertime weather in Gilbert for the autumn chill of Chicago. The smell of mulled cider that greeted us as we stepped into their condo confirmed that we had taken a trip to autumn (not to mention the delicious homemade pumpkin bread Morgan had left for us also.)

When Morgan & Jamie got home we headed out to Chinatown for a little dinner. Michelle was still recovering from her broken femur and had to bring her walker along for the trip.

We went to a restaurant with delicious Chinese food along with these unusual bubble drinks. The drinks are like a fruit smoothie, but with tapioca balls suspended in the drink. The straws are extra large to fit the balls (see several in Bryce's straw). Bryce had a kiwi drink - mmmmm.

Here's a shot of everyone drinking bubble drinks.

After dinner Jamie took us on a tour of Chicago to see the buildings where they work downtown, the Sears tower, and this one-of-a-kind door with a monster peaking out. Only in Chicago.

This is the view from their balcony.

This is where Adam spent a lot of time. He was fascinated with the city, and spent many hours watching the trains and L come and go, along with checking out all the buildings.
It was a great beginning to our trip.

Wow what a fun way to begin a trip! I love their view. I would have been right up there with Adam looking out. How neat for them to live in a place like that.
