ASU Band Day

In October at the height of band competition season, The Gilbert High Tiger Pride marching band competed at ASU Band day.  Here they are taking the field.

Bryce warming up on the field.

Here they are performing their 2011 show - Juxtaposition.  See the random guy walking on the field at about the 50 yard line?  That is one of the on-field judges.  All the time the band is performing two of the judges are out there with mini-microphones recording all their observations to be used to later.  Other judges are doing the same thing up in the sky box.  The next week after the competition, the band gets the chance to listen to the commentary.  Bryce said it's always a good sign if the judge has nothing to say.  That means they have reached the "Wow factor".

Bryce and his trombone.

More Bryce.

And even more Bryce.  Yes, we are proud band parents.

That's Bryce in the center of the picture about to cross the 40 yard line.

Time to feature the percussion.  Sadly as the season progressed they lost all their tenor drummers, so they were down to just snares and basses - but they were awesome.

One of my favorite parts of the show.

Getting ready for the big finish.  Gilbert High finished 2nd in this competition in their division.  It was a great performance.  Stay tuned for the State Festival (preliminaries) and State.  Now you can see where we've been spending our time.

Good job Bryce and Gilbert High on doing so well! It also looks like you guys had a wonderful fall break! Elliot is growing up so fast. He is just a doll.
