New Years 2012
Dan generally is on call for New Years, but this year he had it off, and we jumped at the chance to head up to Pinetop to ring in the new year. Adam brought his new toy from Christmas (given to him by his sisters and brothers-in-law) which is a remote control helicopter controlled by an app downloaded to an itouch. In the first picture (above) the helicopter is on the floor.
Now it is about 4 feet off the ground - see it by Adam's head.
Adam was eventually able to control it enough to fly it quite high in the cabin and only had one or two scary crashes. They even attempted to fly it up to the loft - one of the scary crashes.
Bryce is wisely keeping an eye on the helicopter as it hovers in his direction. It can go out of control very quickly.
On New Year's eve day we headed to the gravel pit for some sledding. Bryce has just had a spectacular spill.
That's Adam headed down the hill with Bryce soon to follow.
Dan tried to get off the beaten track and had some amazing runs. Here he is at the end of the run coming to a slow stop.
Adam taking a break.
Bryce after a few fun runs.
Dan found that the tubes were a great ride.
Father and son - or rather son and father if you read from left to right.
Meanwhile back at the cabin, Luna is enjoying being with the family. She doesn't look too happy, but inside her doggy head she is saying, "I'm with my pack! And I get a lot of people food at the cabin."
Bryce - always trying for a laugh.
We broke out the martinelli's for a toast to the new year. Since we don't have cable at the cabin we couldn't watch the ball drop in New York, but we did watch the clock and toasted the new year at midnight - or thereabouts.
Is it time for the martinelli's yet??
The next day after church, we had a leisurely afternoon playing Risk. Adam couldn't remember playing Risk - it had been that long since we had pulled it out. It always takes a good chunk of time to play.
This is either before or after the game. Adam lined up all his men to march to victory. What a great time at the cabin! Happy New Year!!

What a great way to spend New Years. I think I'm going to opt to do something like that to ring in 2013.
