Canyon Lake - Family trip

At the end of June, Dan had an afternoon free after work and we planned to head out to the lake.  None of the boys' friends could go and Bryce almost decided he didn't want to go, but we convinced him that going to the lake with just family, can be fun!

When we get to Canyon Lake, we almost always head to the cliffs first for some cliff jumping before getting out the boards or tubes.  We've taken lots of pictures of this before, but we always enjoy them.

Adam contemplating the jump.

And in he goes.

Dan put the camera in a "dry bag" and swam over the cliff.  From there he took some shots of us in the boat.  He told us to wave, so we waved and headed off down the lake.

Bye, Dan!

See you later!

An afternoon on Canyon Lake with the lake almost all to ourselves.  Look at that smooth water.  It's time to get the boards out.

Adam is first up with some knee boarding.

Well, first some posing for the camera.

Bryce, our driver.

Although he would rather be out in the water.

This is the man who can toss just about anyone off the tubes with his driving.

Dan, enjoying an afternoon at the lake.

More posing.

Now for some knee boarding.

Adam used to only go out on tubes, and then only reluctantly.  Now loves tubing, is quite proficient on the knee board and has even tried wake boarding.

Isn't that scenery beautiful?  That's why we like Canyon Lake in the afternoon.

This time we talked Adam into going outside the wake.  He mastered the right wake easily, but the left one took a little more effort.

Once Adam is out there, it's hard to get him to come in. I think that's a happy face.
 "Just one more time!"

Finally Bryce got his turn.  He is all about wake boards and wake surfing.  He had just switched out boots on the wake board and was giving them a try.  He is working on jumping the wake.  And although he has been able to get in a few good jumps, my camera skills have not caught a good shot yet.

He just finished his jump, but my shot came to late to catch it.  I was too busy worrying about the crazy boat behind us following us too close.  There was a whole lake out there almost empty and this guy decided to sick on our tail.  Grrrrr.

Bryce leaning over to touch the lake with his hand.

Can't get enough of the beauty of the shadows on the canyons as the sun goes down.

As we headed back in we spotted a bald eagle and tracked it as it headed to its nest.  It is in the center of the picture.  There are actually two eagles.  One in the center and one slightly to the left with its back to us.  We were excited to get a picture of them since we were really quite far away and were bobbing up and down in the water.

It is always a thrill to see wildlife at the lake.

And as the sun sets, it's time to head to the boat ramp.  Bryce and Adam finally admitted it was a great day at the lake, even if it was just our family along for the ride.
