Winter Wonderland

We headed up to Pinetop for President's Day.  A huge storm was predicted so we wrapped everything in plastic since we traveling in the pick-up truck.  But we got to Pinetop ahead of the storm.  It has been so warm that the snow was almost completely melted.  That evening we had dinner and watched a movie.  Just before we went to bed, Dan checked outside and everything was covered in white!  The snow had quietly fallen while we weren't looking.  We took some pictures to document the experience.

Isn't it pretty how the snow coated the bits of pine branches that had fallen on the deck?

Adam had put a bowl out earlier to catch some snow just in case the storm came while we slept.  Luckily we had some root beer in the refrigerator and had root beer slushies.

Bryce let Luna check out the snow too.  We loved how the snow coated everything so evenly - check out the handrails and table & chairs.

Luna took up residence on the stairs.  "I need to sit up here so I can see what the family is having for dinner.  If they leave a chair out, I can help myself to leftovers."

Bryce catching snow flakes the next morning.  It stayed dry for us to go to church, but then while we were warm and cozy in the cabin, it snowed most of the afternoon.

Adam and Bryce making snow angels.  (The only time their names will be in the same sentence with the word "angel"!)

Watch out for flying snowballs!

I even ventured out on the icy deck.

The snow was so powdery that snowballs fell apart pretty fast.

It doesn't look like Luna appreciated Adam's help in posing for the picture.

Adam found an icicle.  We had a great time watching the snow storm create a winter wonderland for us.  Luckily the storm moved out before we had to head home.  So while we enjoyed the snow, we didn't have to drive home in it!
