Bryce has wanted to climb Four Peaks for a long time. While he was the Teacher's Quorum president, he planned a hike with the quorum for November, but the date didn't work out. They moved it to December and a snow storm canceled the trip. In January, Bryce moved into the Priest's Quorum but when the Teachers finally went on the trip in April, they invited Bryce and Dan to join them.
On Friday they drove up to the campsite, enjoying the scenic vistas along the way.
Saturday morning they had breakfast and packed up camp so they could hit the trail to the summit. Pictured left to right are Taylor, Ryan, Austen, Shawn Hanks (their awesome leader), Spencer, Bryce, Dan, Austin, Tyler, Conner and Jaxon.

Some of the group only went to Brown's saddle for various physical reasons. Conner was still recovering from his knee cap being shattered, Jaxon had had some recent foot surgery, and Will did an amazing job getting to this point on the trail accompanied by his dad. Will is such a trooper!

They advised the group to wear gloves because there would be some steep climbs requiring hands and feet on the sharp rocks.
This is Shawn Hanks, the Teacher's Quorum advisor. He was a great leader for Bryce during his time in the Teacher's Quorum.

Dan took a picture of the GPS showing the altitute of 7659 feet. Their elevation gain was nearly 2000 feet.

This is a hike Bryce will long remember. He actually had to give a talk in church the next day about temple covenants. He talked about climbing Four Peaks and how he kept his eye on the top of the mountain as they made the climb and that helped him reach the top. Bryce compared that to how we can keep our eye on the temple and how it will help us reach our goal of returning to live with our Heavenly Father. He did a great job!

Bryce did a great job on his talk. I am always so impressed with him. He is growing into such a fine young man.
I am so glad that Conner was able to go along on this hike. I wish that he'd have been able to make it to the top. He REALLY wanted to but with his leg he just hasn't gained all his strength back yet. Hopefully he will someday soon.
