Rootin' Shootin' Birthday

Watch out! We have a teenager in the house! After five years of our family being teenagerless, Bryce has stepped in to fill the void. On Saturday, at 12:29 pm (Bryce kept reminding us he was not 13 until the time he was born) Bryce turned 13 years old!

After spending the morning at the Merit Badge College finishing his Family Life Merit Badge - hooray - we loaded up and headed out to Queen Valley for some trigger time.
Ever since Bryce earned his Rifleman merit badge with his troop, he has realized how much he enjoys shooting. Dan loaded up our arsenal (some of which had not been fired in years), and we drove to the desert.

Lindsay and Boyd came up from Tucson for the big occasion, and they joined us. Boyd had some experience from ROTC, and enjoyed getting to shoot again.

Dan bought a clay pigeon thrower (not sure of the technical name) and we had fun trying to shatter the targets as they flew through the air. Adam became very good at reloading the thrower and releasing on command.

The desert was a mess from others using it as a target range, but we brought our targets and shells home for disposal.

After cleaning up from our outing, we dined at Bryce's choice of restaurants, the Cheesecake Factory. Bryce had his favorite meal there - Chicken and Biscuits. As you can see, it was enough food to feed him for the next week.

By dessert time, Bryce was fading away, so we each chose a slice of cheesecake and brought them home. With a candle in Bryce's cheesecake (Turtle Cheesecake - can you say "rich") he made his birthday wish and we dined round robin style on our yummy dessert.

Happy 13th Birthday, Bryce!
