Easter Weekend

We had a great weekend with Morgan and Lindsay & Boyd visiting for the holiday. Morgan arrived late Thursday night. We had told her to pack her swimsuit even though it was snowing in Chicago, but somehow she brought the weather with her and we had some serious rain on Saturday.

Morgan and Michelle made a run to Costco to gather food for all the celebration, and then made a few more shopping stops throughout the day. We tempted Morgan with tales of Flancer's delicious food and whisked her off to dinner there. She agreed with our assessment - good food.

Lindsay and Boyd arrived Friday night, and the family planned an early morning hike into the Superstitions. But the next morning we woke up to rain pouring against our window. Plan B - hang out. We should have planned better, but everyone enjoyed a sleep in, and we prepared for our annual Easter picnic in the afternoon.

Max and Kathleen along with Amanda, Collin and Ashli joined us for some homemade paninis (that's picnic food - right?) and lots of yummy sides. Then we had an easter egg hunt. Nevermind the hunters were ages 8 to 14, and nevermind it was starting to rain again. Morgan, Lindsay and Boyd hid the eggs throughout the main part of the house and on the patio. Then we let the "kids" loose with their baskets.

Some eggs where hard to reach.

Can you find the egg in this picture?

Bryce found the "last" elusive egg.

Here are Adam, Collin, Bryce and Ashli with their baskets of eggs.

On Sunday we celebrated Easter and Boyd's birthday. Lindsay kept reminding Boyd that he is "old" because he was turning 29. Dan and Michelle chuckled at the very thought of 29 being considered old!

We had a hearty breakfast of biscuits and gravy (a favorite of the birthday boy), and then headed off to church for a great Fast & Testimony Sunday. We had all anticipated Boyd's birthday and conveniently fasted the week prior :)

By late afternoon we were home and in the kitchen again. We had a traditional Easter meal of ham with all the trimmings. The pleasant spring weather had returned by Sunday, and we were able to enjoy our dinner on the patio. We topped it off with birthday cake (an amazing carrot cake made by Lindsay and Morgan) and birthday presents.

Whew! What a fun weekend.
