Bryce did his Eagle Service Project!!!! We will start at the end with a picture of Bryce (with a coating of black dust from all the spray paint) standing with his instruction board and the rows of newly painted and stenciled music stands from the Sonoma Elementary School Band.
The stands were in need of repair - tightening of nuts and bolts, new paint and new stenciling. Bryce talked with Ms. Tongring at the school and made arrangements to have the stands over the weekend. On Friday after school, Bryce and a crew of helpers went to the school and picked up 51 stands.
Here is a trailer full of stands.

Everyone helped unload....
...including Pete and Andy Hunt. They are getting early training in scout work.

That afternoon Bryce showed everyone how to sand the old paint off the stands, tighten the bolts and blow the dirt off with compressed air.

Then on Saturday morning the crew (plus more) returned to clean the stands with denatured alcohol and then spray paint the stands black. Bryce demonstrated the spraying technique. Spray painting was the popular job.

Bryce directing the sanding and cleaning work. The emphasis of the Eagle Service Project is to show leadership in putting together a service project and then direct others in doing it as opposed to doing it all yourself. While Bryce did a fair amount of cleaning and painting, he also showed all his helpers how to do the work, and inspected it to be sure he would be returning a good product to the school

On Saturday a huge rain storm moved in. So we moved the project into the garage. We had been watching the weather report and anticipated the rain, so we had covered everything in plastic sheeting to project it from overspray.

The finished product was lined up at one end of the garage.

Here is Bryce again with his finished project after everything had been cleaned up. The crew had been fed and sent home. The next step was returning the stands on Monday.

So on Monday, Bryce's friends returned and they started to load up the stands, but the rain moved in and before they could get all the stands in the trailer, they had to unload because the clouds opened up and a downpour began.

Everyone came back on Tuesday. Under clear skies they loaded the trailer. John Hunt pulled it with his truck since Dan couldn't get out of his case that afternoon. The stands were safely returned to the school.

Congrats Bryce, impressive work!! I am proud to be your sister. Elliot wants you to know he is proud to have you for an uncle!
That is a great project! And way to go Bryce, for not cramming in an eagle project the last months before your 18th birthday . . . that seems to be the tradition in our stake and it is stressful to mothers!
You should be proud - that is a great accomplishment.
I think this was a great project! The stands look amazing. Congratulations Bryce!
They look awesome! I'm so proud of you and your great example to Conner and Blake. I am also grateful that Blake was able to help you with your Eagle Project and get the idea to do the same thing for the Strings. You have been such a great help to him with all your paper work and input. What a great friend and Eagle you are!
