Desert Ride

The boys had a half day on Friday before spring break. Dan ended up with the afternoon free, so we loaded up the motorcycles and guns and went out for a quick trip to the desert. Bryce was anxious to get some more practice on his bike. He ventured out of first gear and is now comfortable in second gear. (He will laugh about this in years to come.)

We even talked Adam into going for a short ride with Dan. He was not real thrilled with the helmet - but since it was not an option, he adapted.

Here goes Adam with Dan. If Adam enjoys it enough, we hope to find a small motorcycle or quad for him in the future. At least this experience was a success. When Dan and Adam got back, Bryce and Dan mounted up on their bikes and went off for a little longer ride. Bryce learned a lesson about setting the gas tank on the main tank and not on reserve. When you are working on the reserve tank, you will run out of gas with no warning.

Here is Bryce - out of gas. Dan came back and loaded his bike on the trailer. Then we headed down the road to pick up Bryce. This is what we found - Bryce and his bike hanging out by the side of the road.
We loaded the bike up and went back to our spot for a little target practice - shooting all the empty spray paint cans from Bryce's eagle project. It was pretty cool. A lot of fun squeezed into a late afternoon - plus the desert was beautiful after all the rain we have had lately. Go out to the desert - it's gorgeous!
