We have been talking about restoring the Jeep for a long time now. This is a 1957 Willys Jeep that has been in the family for a long time - it started in Dan's family and even was owned by Michelle's family for a few years - a long story. But the jeep has need some TLC for a while.
Dan ordered some parts - including a new steering wheel because the old one would get your hands all black since the outer coating was disinegrating. So a few Saturdays ago Dan and Bryce pulled the Jeep into the garage and got to work on it.
Do you think we need to replace the seats or upholstery?
Dan took this picture for posterity while they had the steering wheel off. They changed the oil, and did a lube job - all good "Dick Dahl Garage" training for Bryce. When Dan was growing up, his Dad, Dick Dahl, was a auto mechanic and had his own garage - The Dick Dahl Garage. All of his brothers and Dan worked at the garage at some point and were trained in the art of auto mechanics. Dan says that his Dad trained his oldest brother, Dick. Then Dick trained Bob; Bob trained Charlie and Charlie trained Dan. Those hot summers in the Garage taught them all that they didn't want to take over the family business. One brother went into accounting and the other three went into medicine.
There is a lot of history in this old Jeep - many stories to be told and adventures to be recounted as the work continues on the Jeep.

That is awesome! I think that is great that Dan learned auto mechanics too. He is a Dan of all trades:)
It will be fun for Bryce to drive something that he and Dan fixed up together and something that has been in the family for years as well.
Bryce driving isn't to far off. wow they grow up so fast!
