Start your engines!

This was Adam's final Pinewood Derby year.  This year his car wore his school's colors - turquoise and black.  Here are Dan and Adam at the workbench after the last minute weight adjustments before we headed to the Derby.

Bryce and Conner used the leftover piece from making Adam's car and made a sleek little car.  It did not meet the weight requirements, but they had fun making it and racing it in the post-race matches.  It made us think that having an unofficial Derby in the summer could be a lot of fun.  We could even have a backyard movie and watch "The Derby".

Here is a partial line up of the competition.

Before the races, some awards were given.  Adam received the remaining activity pins he needed to reach his Webelos rank.  He received his Webelos badge and Cubmaster John Hunt painted Adam's face with red, yellow and blue paint to symbolize the skills he had accomplished in Webelos.

Let the races begin!

Here is Adam with all his awards.  His car finished with a respectable ranking of #7.
Congratulations, Adam!  It was a fun evening.

Here is a picture of Adam and his Webelos Leader, Shawn Hastings, before Adam wiped off all the face paint.  Brother Hastings and Brother Peters (not pictured) are great scout leaders.  They were instrumental in Adam making his Webelos rank.  Thanks!!
