Canyon Lake

Dan and Bryce home teach the Candland family.  Jamie Candland is the bishop in our ward.  They have a great family with 5 boys.  Dan had a novel idea for home teaching this month.  He asked the Candlands if they would like to be "visited" at the lake.  On July 5th after everyone headed back to work after the holiday weekend, we headed to the lake.  Here we are having lunch.

When we got home, we had taken 298 pictures!  Here is a sampling.  There was cliff jumping.  Go Adam!

Bryce cliff jumping.

Dan taking his turn at cliff jumping.

I love this picture - Grant enjoying his cookie while "king of the tube" goes on behind him.

Jamie getting in on "king of the tube".  Look at the expressions on the boys' faces!  I also like how the camera caught the water coming off Jamie's feet.  It looks like he has fins.

After lunch we started with the knee board.  Hayden took a turn.

Then Tucker.

Next was Jordan, the Candlands' cousin.

Even Porter was a natural at knee boarding.

Good friends - Bryce & Hayden.

Adam after a dip in the lake.  The water was in the upper 70's depending on where you were in the lake.  The day had some clouds, so the weather was perfect.

Drew knee boarding.

This was Adam's first time knee boarding.

Bryce has tried wake surfing before, but each time he does it, he gets closer to finding the "sweet spot" where he can surf on the wake with no tether to the boat.

Jamie headed out to create havoc on the tube.  You can see the anticipation on the faces of Hayden, Bryce and Jordan.

Another shot of Bryce wakesurfing.

A beautiful day on Canyon Lake.

Aren't these cute boys!  Porter, Tucker and Grant getting ready for some tube time.

Tubing!  A great way to entertain several boys at one time.  We put three tubes out, and you can have as many as 7 people out at one time.  This is a close up of Adam and Drew.

Jordan, Bryce and Hayden headed to cross the wake and catch a little air.

The whole group in one shot.

Catching some air.

Adam's fish imitation??

Oh, that's what he was trying to do...

Jamie took Tucker's place for a quick trip.  Here he is trying to pull Hayden and Bryce off the center tube and dunk them in the lake.  But the boys had a strong grip on the handles and were not budging.

Hayden and Jordan on a wild ride.

Hayden figured out how to pop the tube up off the water.  When he hit a wake, he could pop it up even further.

Doesn't this picture just say "summer time" to you.  The boys found there were lots of fish under the dock.  They would lean over and put their hands in the water and the fish would come right up to them.  At one point almost all the boys were stretched out on the dock like this, but we did catch a shot of Grant and Porter still checking out the fish.

It was a fun day on the water.  Even though we stayed on the lake until after sundown, we were lucky to get off before a giant dust storm hit.  Before the dust storm, we were treated to a beautiful sunset which we will have to remember in our minds since the camera was packed up by that time.

I wouldn't complain if our home teachers wanted to do our home teaching at the lake:) It looks like a great time!
