RZR Riding

We took a few days and headed to cooler weather in Pinetop.  The weather was perfect.  It has been raining, so the roads are no longer dusty.  We took the RZR out for a few rides while we were there.  Dan found several back roads for us to explore.  Since we are off the main road, we let Bryce drive (he loves to drive) much of the time.  This time however, it got a bit scary.  We had driven up a steep - very very steep - hill, drove over the top and were faced with a deep ditch going down the middle of our path.  The road on this side of the crest was just as steep, although you can't tell that in the picture.  The ditch had been formed over many seasons by rain and snow runoff. 

Before we could assess the situation, Bryce decided the road looked smoother on the other side and attempted to cross the ditch.  The next thing we knew we were laying on our side in the ditch.  In the picture Dan had already pushed us somewhat upright so we could crawl out. (Sorry for the picture quality - Dan took these pictures with his phone.)  

Bryce handled it well (and so did we - there was no yelling or crying).  Bryce stayed in the driver's seat while the rest of us got out.  While Dan pushed, Bryce drove forward and in an instant the RZR was back on the road ready to continue the journey.  Only a few scratches remain to remind us of the adventure.

This is back at the cabin before our first trip out.  I thought it was after our ditch escapade, but the RZR is too clean.  Mud holes dotted the roads due to the rain.  As a result not only the RZR, but the passengers as well were speckled with mud.

Evidently only goggles are required for riding (you can see Adam is already suited up ready to go), but we had chosen to wear goggles and helmets.  After our adventure this trip, we don't feel silly wearing helmets as we pass by all the helmet-less riders on the road.  Our helmets were welcomed protection as the road rose up to meet the side of our car.

Life is never dull.
