It was quite a season this year for the Gilbert Tiger Pride marching band. They came in 2nd at State Prelims, so everyone was anxious going into the state competition at Glendale Community College on Veterans' Day weekend.
The show was called Juxtaposition, and had some intricate footwork. In the picture above, the trombones are up front on the sideline. Bryce is on the far right.
Our band has one of the largest guard units. They are very good and won the caption for auxiliary.
This is Desert Vista High School. Their show was called "Leap before you Look" and had small trampolines that were utilized throughout the show. They had come in 1st at the State Prelims, so they were the ones to beat.
When the awards were handed out, Gilbert won captions for auxiliary and music. They announced the captions and then started with 6th place and worked up. Before they announced that Gilbert had come in 2nd, the judges announced that this year was the smallest difference between 1st and 2nd place - only 0.012% Wow!
It was a great season. Now we are looking forward to the band marching in the National Independence Day Parade in Washington DC in July representing Arizona. Congratulations Gilbert Tiger Pride!
