In case you cannot decipher our message, we are spelling out H-A-P-P-Y 4th! Morgan, Jamie and Elliot flew in from Chicago, and Lindsay & Boyd drove up from Tucson. So we were able to celebrate the 4th together at the cabin.
Luna even got to come. Her dog run has not been built yet, so she is still on a cable. She even took a turn babysitting Elliot.
Adam brought his geocache and "hid" it not too far from the cabin. While we were still in Pinetop someone found it. Adam had placed a travel bug in it, so we will follow its journey on the geocaching website.

On Saturday, Dan, Jamie, Boyd, Adam and Bryce went golfing on the Pinetop Lakes Course. Boyd had never golfed before, but he is always game to try something new. So the five of them played "best ball" and played 9 holes of golf on Saturday afternoon.

When they got back, Michelle, Morgan and Lindsay had a mexican feast ready with fajitas and sweet corn tamale cakes - yum! The weather was perfect so we ate on the deck. Do you see Luna lingering under the table ever hopeful that something will drop?
Lindsay made this delicious assortment of chocolate toppings and cocoa nib ice cream for Dan for Father's Day (which she told him she would deliver to him on the 4th). Dan was generous and shared with us. We are definitely a chocolate loving family. We went through 3 pints of chocolate topping in 3 days - and it wasn't all eaten on ice cream either. Boy, was it good. Lindsay is quite a gourmet cook. Isn't it great that we get to sample her work?
On Sunday we went to church at the ward building closeby. We saw 3 families from our home ward there. Sacrament meeting was so full it looked like stake conference with chairs to the back of the cultural hall.
Elliot was the center of attention for most of the weekend. Adam and Bryce enjoy being uncles. One afternoon Elliot was stirring during his nap. Adam went in to check him and put his pacifier back in place. He came out and reported that Elliot's binky was back in and that he had given Elliot a paper airplane - but don't worry, it didn't have any sharp edges. What an uncle!
We did lots of game playing on this trip. This was a favorite. It's called quoridor and it involves trying to get your piece to the opposite side while everyone is trying to block your way by building a maze of sorts. Things got competitive.

A hamburger cookout for the 4th of July. There was a lot of good food consumed on this trip. It was so relaxing at the cabin that we didn't venture in to town for the fireworks. We opted to go elk spotting after dark. Alas, all we spotted were cattle. But we will try again next time.
We got our horseshoe posts pounded into the ground and several rounds of horseshoes were played.
We scouted out a location for a swinging tree and settled on this one, but after Dan climbed his ladder, cut off the dead branches and tied up the rope, we discovered the diameter of the tree was too large for an ideal swing. So it's back to the drawing board next trip.
It was a great weekend in the cool pines with all the family. The more we go, the more we love Pinetop.

Ah, what a great trip. And not nearly long enough. After reading your most recent post I was also thinking along the lines of: "too many fun things to do and not enough time to do them!"
