Adam's birthday always falls just after school is out. So on the last day of school, he took Krispy Kreme donuts to school to celebrate his birthday.
The Young Men's Encampment (our ward's name for a week long camp for the young men) started the day after school. Not only was Bryce going, but Dan was going to teach two merit badges - Astronomy and Environmental Science. Since Adam was turning 11 on the second day of camp and could earn merit badges, Dan took Adam along and was his camp buddy. So for his birthday, we gave Adam a new sleeping bag that would keep him warm on these cold campouts.
He will be warm and toasty in this new bag.
He also received a new camelbak insert for his backpack. Every scout needs hydration!
But the one gift Adam was really hoping for was a Nook. He was VERY excited to receive this gift, even though he wouldn't get to use it for the next week while he was at camp. Adam is quite a reader, and they are starting to use Nooks at school - the school library even has digital books to check out. We think he will get plenty of use out of it.
Adam's birthday celebration continued on into our vacation time at Pinetop (which I will cover in another post) and had an extended birthday celebration over about 10 days.
Happy Birthday, Adam!!

Happy Birthday Adam (a little late)! It looks like it was a great birthday though. I think those Nooks are very cool. Last year Sonoma did a piloting program with the Nooks (I guess it was piloting program) and Brilynn got to try out the Nook the last semester of school. She LOVED it and she read even more having that Nook around all the time. I am thinking that may be what she asks for for her birthday in September.
