Twas the Night Before Christmas
Christmas Eve day started out with everyone watching "Wait, Wait, Don't Tell Me", an NPR news quiz, that we all listen to on the radio each Saturday. A news quiz doesn't sound entertaining, but it is all done with fun quips and jokes and has you laughing all the way through. For the holiday they had a special edition of the program that was on television. As dedicated listeners, we couldn't miss it.
The weather was beautiful, so Elliot had to grab some outside time in the sandbox.
Morgan, Elliot and Lindsay counting the minutes to Christmas Eve.
Finally it was time to roll enchiladas for our traditional Christmas Eve enchilada dinner.
The places were all set. The traditional Christmas poppers were in place.
A new recipe was added to the mix - cranberry cream cheese dip. Yum!
Don and Kathy dropped by with Cleone, so we took the opportunity to take a picture of the group. The only ones we are missing were Brandt and Kelli who were at her grandmother's for the evening.
Morgan and Lindsay modeling their Christmas popper crowns.
After dinner it was time to read the Christmas story from the scriptures and play some games. Michelle made up a Christmas jeopardy game.
Each team chose their name. As you can see by the score, the Grinches came from behind and won the game.
Then we got out our Messiah song books and sang "For Unto Us" and Hallelujah along with the Toronto Choir and Symphony. The handbells were next and were just a little easier once we got the hang of it.
It is our tradition to open one present on Christmas Eve. And that present is always new Christmas pajamas. Elliot was worn out from all the fun and opened his first. Once he was in his jammies, he headed to bed. It all happened so fast we didn't get a picture of it, but you can imagine him cute and cuddly in red Christmas jammies.
Here's the rest of the crew in their Christmas pajamas. The slippers they are holding represent Dan who was taking the picture.
Somebody took a picture of Santa's elves at work. Shhh! Don't tell Elliot.
