Honor Band

Bryce's band teacher suggested he try out for Honor Band. He thought and thought about it, and finally decided he would give it a try.

Auditions were back in early March. Around 25 trombone players tried out from across the Gilbert Public School District for 7 positions in the Honor Band - and Bryce made it!

For the last two weeks he has gone to South Valley Jr. High every Tuesday and Thursday to practice for 90 minutes with the other 99 band members. The concert was today at in the Highland High Auditorium. They were awesome!! It sounded like a high school band - not 6th graders!

Grandma & Grandpa Porter were able to join us, and they were amazed at the skill level. Bryce sacrificed many "playing with friends" hours, but he never complained about the practices. They had a fun conductor, and he really enjoyed taking his musical skills to the next level.

Way to go, Bryce!

WOW!! Way to go, Bryce! I think honor band is one of the best parts of band. People that actually know what they're doing for a change! It reminds you that even when that yucky trombone player behind you empties his spit valve in your hair there are those other trombone players out there that are actually amazing. Bryce is evidence of the later. Way to keep up morale!
