We bought our tickets in September, and the time finally arrived on Saturday for us to attend the Lion King at Grady Gammage. This was Adam's first exposure to a full length Broadway play - Bryce had already experienced Annie a few years ago. We chose the matinee and so did everyone else with children. It was a full house, and the production did not disappoint us.
One of the most exciting parts of the play are the amazing puppets that depict the various animals in the play. We each had our favorite animal. As the animals make their way down the isles during different portions of the play, we had a good look as they came by.
We got a little worried when only 2/3 of the way through the first act, Adam asked, "How much longer?" Thank goodness we had watched the movie in preparation for the play, and Adam was familiar with the storyline. Afterwards at dinner, as we talked about the different effects that were used on stage, and how you use your imagination in the theatre as opposed to movies, the boys began to discuss the different things they had noticed and enjoyed in the play. It was a good experience, and hopefully will be the beginnings of a love for the theatre that their parents share.

Ooh I am jealous. I remember when we were at that stage and saw Beauty and the Beast. I also remember Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor dreamcoat. What fun!
