May 28, 2009 was a busy day in the life of Adam Dahl. It's not every day you turn nine years old. His last year of single digits!
Luckily Dan's cases didn't start until 8:30 am, so we got everyone up and celebrated Adam's birthday at 7:30 am! (You have to understand that Adam is normally not an early riser - but with the promise of a birthday celebration, he popped out of bed.) He was very excited about his present - an electronic keyboard. Now he can make all sorts of music (he loves inventing songs on the piano - instead of practicing his piano lesson). And best of all - it has earphones!! (Please disregard the fact that no presents are wrapped - sometimes these things happen)

Everyone wanted a turn to try out the fun sounds it would make. Ashli was staying with us while her parents were at girl's camp - please note that she is the only kid dressed for the day.

Adam had requested waffles for his birthday breakfast, so we stuck a candle in the waffle and sang to him. After that he got dressed and went to his summer school classes. He is enrolled in beginning band and learning to play the trumpet, and his second class is about mystery science. When his classes were over, he had a couple hours at home before he headed to Cub Scout Day Camp at Heard Scout Pueblo for Pirates of the Pueblo. They shot BB guns, hit the archery range, learned to tie knots other than granny knots, had dinner, went swimming, had a water balloon fight and arrived home at 10:00 pm.

Here is Adam after a long day of fun on his birthday. What a great kid!! We love you, Adam!!

At first glance, the purple and black box looked like he got an ironing board for his birthday. Woo hoo! Your family always looks like you have fun together. And it sounds like a fun summer ahead. Our son loved Pirates of the Pueblo, too.
Happy Happy Birthday Adam!!! It looks like you had one exciting birthday!
I love the look on Bryce's face in the early morning. Way cute. And I'm so sad that Kathleen and Max didn't ask us to take Ashli for them. We had Tucker Candland while Jamie and Sheri were at girl's camp and Brilynn was just so so bored all week with all those boys. She'd loved to have had Ashli here or to have at least had her over to play a little.
I also feel so over joyed that Adam's present's weren't wrapped. Now I will feel much better when my kids present's aren't wrapped because I will remember that one of my greatest examples and heros sometimes doesn't get her kids presents wrapped either. Thanks! Your the best!
Love,
JoLynn
HAPPY HAPPY BIRTHDAY ADAM! We love you!
