Bryce's Sunday Six

Here are six things that made Bryce smile this last week:

1. Eating Flancers Pizza. Bryce is always happy when pizza is on the menu.

2. Going to Meghan Steffey Miera's wedding open house. Meghan used to live around the corner from us before she headed off to college. Meghan is a great golfer, and for almost a year gave Bryce golf lessons (and he still uses techniques and tricks she taught him). So we took Bryce and Adam along to the open house. There they had every kid's dream - a Sweet Shop. Two large tables were set up with every kind of candy - mostly chocolate, and each guest got to fill a small bag to take home. This has raised the expectations of all future wedding receptions for Bryce!

3. Swimming in November. Our solar heater is keeping the pool at a warm 85 degrees and Bryce is taking advantage of it. On Saturday, Bryce and his friend, Tyler Wooley, spent a couple hours in the pool.

4. Finishing his Constellation Project. It hung over his head for more than a week, but Bryce finally finished it on Tuesday night in the midst of the election results. He researched the constellation Vela, found 5 interesting facts, where it is located, and made a poster showing the alignment of the stars and all the other facts he discovered. Ask him about it next time you see him, and see if he retained any of the information!

5. Cleaning guns. Bryce's scout troop has been working on the Rifle Merit Badge. This week at their troop meeting, they completed the requirements by cleaning guns. Bryce really enjoyed this merit badge (lots more fun than Family Life for which he has to do his own laundry for 3 months). He is looking forward to going to the desert for more shooting practice.

6. Field trip to Gilbert High School to watch the Gilbert High Marching Band perform. Bryce is still playing trombone in the Jr. High band and they are already recruiting for High School. He was tempted with promises of big trips, and even fed pizza for lunch at the end of the performance. He is sold. Looks like we have more marching band time in our future.
